The Danish shipping company Cadeler has won a large order from Ørsted in connection with the construction of the two wind farms Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 3, which will be located in the German part of the North Sea.

The shipping company has been chosen as the preferred installation vessel supplier, and will thus assist with the transport and installation of the minimum 48 11-MW wind turbines that will make up the wind farms.

To carry out the task, Cadeler will use the vessel Wind Osprey, which will be upgraded with a new main crane before the task begins in order to be able to complete the construction of the Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 3 wind farms and other similar projects in the future. Wind Osprey is one of two O-class vessels that Cadeler owns, and both will be upgraded with new cranes in the near future.

- We are very pleased to be able to collaborate with Ørsted on this project and to be awarded the preferred supplier status, as it demonstrates the competitiveness of our upgraded O-class vessels, says Cadeler CEO, Mikkel Gleerup.

When the wind farms Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 3 are completed, they will have a combined capacity of more than one GW. The projects are expected to be fully commissioned in 2024 and 2025, respectively. However, Ørsted has yet to make the final investment decision on the projects.
