VORDINGBORG: A new route for the planned 400kV connection between Køge and Vordingborg, which Energinet presented on Thursday, is well received by Vordingborg's mayor Michael Seiding Larsen (V), who comments on the proposal in a press release.

- I would like to acknowledge that the many citizens who wanted the route to follow the motorway to create as little disturbance as possible in the landscape have been listened to, says the mayor.

In the new proposal, the 45 km connection is slightly shorter than in the original – 14 km are laid in the ground as cables, and the distribution between cables and high-voltage lines in the new proposal is approximately the same as before.

Energinet says that it has listened to the local areas in South Zealand and the political debate, and that it is after dialogue that the connection in the new proposal has been moved, so that it is located along the Sydmotorvejen, to the extent possible.

- As we have explained in our dialogue meetings, it is not possible for us to establish the entire connection as underground cables, but we have listened to local wishes, says Energinet department manager Christoffer Lilleholt.

In the right direction

Michael Seiding Larsen believes that the new proposal is a step in the right direction. However, he still wants the cables to be buried.

- I also think that this principle should be followed on the section in Vordingborg Municipality, where the cables are routed through the open landscape to the Vordingborg Nord transformer station. Here, the cables should be buried to take into account the landscape and rural life, he says, but then adds:

- It is important for me to say that it is 100 percent Energinet that decides where and how the line should be laid. It is also important for me to say that the upgrade of the electricity grid is a really positive thing, which will have a great impact on the green transition, on the business development in our municipality and on our shared security of supply.

Energinet will at a later date present the new proposal for the route to the agreement group with a view to connection.

- We have been in dialogue with the affected municipalities – Køge, Faxe, Næstved and Vordingborg – about the new route. It is also important for us to involve citizens in the new plans. We are therefore calling for public dialogue meetings where we present the new route, says Christoffer Lilleholt.
