A Vestas wind turbine is on its way to being erected outside Thyborøn, and it is actually one of the very large offshore wind turbines that is now on its way to being erected.
- It has been in Østerild, and now we are having it undergo long-term testing here. Nine months passed from the time we received the first inquiry, and there was not a single complaint. We are not bigger than we can make things happen, explains Lemvig's mayor Erik Flyvholm (V).
A good offer
The 61-year-old mayor announced not long ago that he will not stand again for the municipal elections in 2025. But it is certainly not due to a lack of energy, because Erik Flyvholm is full of energy. The 15 MW Vestas wind turbine, which is on its way to Thyborøn with its approximately 260 meters to the tip of the blade, also comes under a locally popular business model.
- There are 2800 shares, all of which have been sold here in the municipality, says Erik Flyvholm and takes a short break and looks questioningly at DOI.dk's dispatcher:
- But if you move up here to the municipality, there are reserved shares that new residents can buy. We have saved some shares that newcomers can buy.
It is all connected to the extent that settlement plays a big role for the mayor, who largely thinks in terms of an overall plan. The plan involves tourism, urban and energy development, and this is particularly evident in Thyborøn.
- We have drawn up a development plan for Thyborøn, where we are in the process of tying the old part of the harbor together with the Coastal Directorate's old premises, so that we have an open stretch, Erik Flyvholm explains about a development that is going to be carried out with funds from both Realdania and the Danish Business Promotion Agency. In total, it is 35 million. DKK, which ends up being used for development, and the ambition is clear.
- We would like to grow by 4 per cent. per year on overnight stays, and there is also a hotel project on the way, says the mayor.
Enough green energy: Why do we need more?
The future outlook for even more green energy is clear for the municipality, because a part of the future offshore wind farms will have their power brought ashore here. And here the mayor has a clear wish.
- We must join a hydrogen pipeline from the start. We will actually only be 90 km from a potential energy island, and then we already have a PtX demonstration plant located at Ramme, says Erik Flyvholm, who is already in a race with his neighboring municipalities Holstebro and Struer for a larger overall plan for the three municipalities.< /p>
- Why do we need a solar park of 200 hectares when we already have enough green power, when we are already at the forefront of green energy? - asks Erik Flyvholm and makes a suggestion:
- We can take a look at Norway, where the municipalities get part of the return. We suggest that you give four øre per produced kWh electricity to the municipality, because something must be channeled to us who produce the electricity.
Here the mayor is also thinking about being able to bring in specialists for the municipality.
- We must have a return to drive this green development. There must be funds that can help to remove houses and hire the specialists for the municipalities who can help to get this done. It requires some finances from the municipality, he asserts.
