On Friday, the Energy Complaints Board made a decision on the complaints about the establishment permits for the two offshore wind farms at Jammerland Bugt and Lillebælt Syd.

A German environmental association and the local associations Red Lillebælt and Beskyt Jammerland Bugt have complained to the Energy Complaints Board about the establishment permits for the projects. However, the Energy Complaints Board has decided to reject the complaints, which means that the two projects can continue as planned.

This is a source of joy for TotalEnergies and European Energy, who together with the local utility company Sonfor are behind the projects.

- Denmark needs concrete energy projects if the political goals for green energy are to be met. We are very pleased that our projects can now continue, and it has been established that we have taken the right precautions for nature and the environment, says Martin Rune Pedersen, CEO of TotalEnergies Denmark.

- It is positive that we now have a clarification that makes it possible to continue with the projects as planned. We are ready to deliver green electricity to the Danes and contribute to both security of supply and the green transition. The decision is an important step for the expansion of offshore wind in Denmark, says Knud Erik Andersen, CEO of European Energy.

The two offshore wind farms were part of the Danish open-door scheme, and together they will be able to supply green electricity equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of up to 400,000 Danish households.

The local utility company Sonfor, which is a co-owner of the Lillebælt Syd project, emphasizes the importance of a strong connection between offshore wind and the regional energy infrastructure:

- We have a strong green project that shows that municipalities and other players can realize ambitious climate and energy projects and contribute to the production of green electricity, green transition and increased security of supply, says Chairman of the Board Ellen Trane Nørby.

With the decision in hand, further planning of the projects continues.

The Lillebælt Syd project includes the installation of 11 offshore wind turbines between Als and Helnæs with a total capacity of 165 MW.

The Jammerland Bugt project includes the installation of 16 offshore wind turbines with a total capacity of 240 MW. The wind turbines will be located south of Kalundborg between the peninsulas of Asnæs and Reersø.
