If Denmark is to become a leading player in Power-to-X, political action and a national strategy are necessary, according to 18 organizations that have come together on a series of recommendations for a national strategy.
The recommendations have been passed on to Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities Dan Jørgensen (S), who warmly welcomed the recommendations at a Danish Energy event specifically on Power-to-X.
- We are very aware of the great goodwill that exists in the industry, says Dan Jørgensen.
The minister says that they will listen to the industries and continue the close cooperation that was established with the climate partnerships.
In addition, the minister says that they are already working on a strategy on Power-to-X and CCS (Carbon Capture Storage).
- We will come up with a PtX and a CCS strategy next year. We are already well underway with the work, and we will continuously involve the industry in the strategy, says Dan Jørgensen.
- We will listen to you, ask you and use you, says Dan Jørgensen to those present from the industry.
Dan Jørgensen does not want to set a deadline for when the government will present a PtX strategy or a CCS strategy. He emphasizes that there are many pieces to be put into a complicated puzzle.
- We have a huge chance for Denmark to become a leader in this technology, where we have unique opportunities, but we will have to seize the opportunity, says Dan Jørgensen.
- Denmark is not in the leading field when it comes to converting electricity into hydrogen and further into fuels that can be used in heavy transport and industry. But we can still achieve that. This requires us to act quickly politically and adopt an ambitious strategy where the entire value chain commits, says Lars Aagaard, CEO, Dansk Energi.
