The Danish shipping company Cadeler, which is a supplier to the offshore wind industry, has closed two agreements with Vestas and an unnamed customer. The agreements involve the use of the company's so-called O-class ships. The contracts ensure optimal utilization of the Cadeler fleet before and after a planned upgrade of the ships' cranes, the company said in a press release.
The agreement with Vestas runs until 2024, when the upgrade of the cranes is to take place. The contract with the unnamed customer comes into force after the upgrade, and means that Cadeler will become the customer's preferred supplier. The contract includes, among other things, transport and installation of next-generation wind turbines (WTGs) on an undisclosed project, and has a preliminary contract value of more than 45 million euros.
- The agreement with Vestas adds another important project to our strong order book and once again emphasizes our close relationships with customers in the sector. The contract ensures strong utilization of our assets until the new cranes are installed. The fact that we can also add another agreement as preferred supplier to the order book for the O-class is a great achievement. The two contracts confirm the rationale of our strategic decision to upgrade our vessels and demonstrate the superior competitiveness of the O-class ships, says Cadeler CEO, Mikkel Gleerup.
