In April 2021, Linde Gas A/S and the Port of Aabenraa announced in a joint press release that they would jointly investigate the possibilities of establishing an electrolysis plant at the Port of Aabenraa.
In January last year, the plans seemed to become more realistic when the port entered into an agreement with Linde Gas, where the international group reserved an area of 180,000 square meters, the area was to be used to establish a larger PtX facility on the port's grounds in Ensted . However, those plans have now been put in the grave, says Aabenraa Havn in a press release.
"Linde Gas has completed the feasibility study and as a result has decided not to participate in the project. Linde confirms that the decision does not reflect the location of Aabenraa Havn or its available technical infrastructure," reads the announcement.
The decision from Linde Gas is not surprisingly met with disappointment from the Port of Aabenraa.
- It is sad when such an exciting project is not realized. Now it is not Linde Gas that is going to establish itself on the new areas at Ensted, but they have helped draw attention to the unique facilities that are there, says Director of Aabenraa Havn, Henrik Thykjær to Judean West Coast.
What will now happen with the large area at Ensted by Aabenraa Harbor not yet, but informs that "Several interesting projects are in play, and provide fertile ground for new opportunities," and "that the situation has given rise to a short pause for thought, where you consider which direction to follow."
