The district heating sector wants politicians to act to ensure that the phasing out of gas for home heating stays on track towards 2030-35.
Therefore, Danish District Heating has approached the Danish Parliament and requested to appear before the Climate, Energy and Utilities Committee to discuss the need for a new political agreement.
The political agreement from 2022, "Partial agreement on more green heating and phasing out of natural gas", has laid the foundation for heating plans in municipalities and projects at district heating companies. But reports from, among others, KL show that the goal cannot be achieved with the current framework, especially without a fixed end date for gas in district heating areas.
- We honestly think that we owe it to municipalities, citizens and utility companies to support the work of the last three years, and push the last percentages who are holding on to the gas boiler and preventing the majority from getting district heating, says political head of Danish District Heating, Rune Moesgaard.
He explains that Danish District Heating wants to present concrete proposals for a number of simple political measures that can support the goal of green heating and ensure that the phasing out of fossil fuels is implemented effectively.
