A new book will be published this summer with more details about the sabotage of the Russian gas pipelines Nord Stream 1 and 2, which took place in the fall of 2022. This is according to Berlingske, which has spoken to the book's author, Bojan Pancevski.

According to the newspaper, several former Ukrainian intelligence officers and Ukrainian divers tell how they planned and carried out the sabotage. They declare themselves proud of the explosion of the pipelines in the Baltic Sea near Bornholm.

- I did it for my country. For the heroes who defend our country day after day, says one of the Ukrainian divers in the book, according to Berlingske.

The diver also admits to having placed timed explosive charges on the pipelines.

The book's author has spoken to both perpetrators and German investigators.

According to the online bookstore Saxo, the book titled "The Nord Stream Conspiracy" will be published in Denmark on June 16. The book is in English.

Four leaks on Nord Stream

In September 2022, four leaks were detected on the pipelines. They were not in use at the time, but they were filled with gas. The authorities assessed that it was sabotage. Subsequently, both Russia and the United States were pointed out as possible actors.

Both Danish, Swedish and German authorities initiated an investigation into the case. But in February 2024, first Sweden and later Denmark suspended the investigation.

The Copenhagen Police and the Danish Police Intelligence Service (PET) justified the decision by saying that there was no sufficient basis to pursue a criminal case in Denmark.

The investigation continued in Germany, and in August 2025, a suspect - a former officer in the Ukrainian military, who has been referred to as "Serhii K" - was arrested in Italy. He has been extradited to Germany, where he is expected to be brought to trial.

According to Berlingske, "Serhii K" also appears in the book.  Another suspect - a Ukrainian, referred to as "Volodymyr Z." - was arrested in Poland in September 2025. However, a Polish court has ruled that he should not be extradited for prosecution in Germany.
