Lower profits – but satisfaction with progress in operations at the Port of Aabenraa

Profits fell in 2025 after what the port describes as an extraordinary coal year in 2024. The core business is growing, which is satisfying.

The Port of Aabenraa delivered a profit of 5.8 million DKK in 2025 against 11.4 million DKK the year before. The lower result overshadows increasing activity in the port's core business, where crane rental increased by 27 percent, while terminal equipment increased by 11 percent. This is stated by the Port of Aabenraa in a press release.

According to the port, the difference in result was largely due to a normalization after an extraordinary 2024, where coal activities temporarily raised the activity level due to uncertainty in the energy markets after Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

In 2025, the level was more accurate, and here the business showed progress. At the same time, the bottom line was affected by developments in the financial markets, which the port itself has no influence on.

- The most important thing is that there is good activity in our core business. This is a clear sign that the companies at the port are doing well, says Erwin Andresen, chairman of the board of directors at Aabenraa Port.

The board also points to continued great interest in the areas at Aabenraa Port South, which are expected to be translated into concrete projects and agreements with significance for the upcoming accounts. The accounts will now be forwarded for political consideration by Aabenraa City Council.
