Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky criticizes the "continued easing of sanctions" against Russia. In a post on X, Zelensky emphasizes that every dollar paid for Russian oil is "money for war."

- More than 110 tankers from Moscow's shadow fleet are currently at sea. On board are more than 12 million tons of Russian oil, which, due to the easing of sanctions, can once again be sold without consequences, he writes.

According to the president, the Russian oil is worth about ten billion dollars. This corresponds to 64 billion Danish kroner.

- (It, ed.) is a resource that is being directly transformed into new attacks against Ukraine, writes Zelenskyj.

The president does not specifically mention the United States in the post, but the announcement from Zelenskyj comes after US President Donald Trump on Saturday extended a permit to purchase Russian oil stranded at sea.

The permit temporarily allows countries to purchase sanctioned Russian oil and petroleum products that are on ships at sea. According to the Trump administration, this is done in an attempt to control global energy prices that have increased during the war against Iran. The permit applies to purchases of oil that have been loaded onto ships until Friday. The permit expires on May 16.

The waiver to purchase Russian oil is an extension of a similar permit previously issued by the US Treasury Department. It expired on April 11 after 30 days. The permit means that other countries will not face US sanctions if they buy the Russian oil that has already been loaded.

Russia's special envoy Kirill Dmitriyev has said that the first permit freed up 100 million barrels of Russian crude. That's the equivalent of almost a full day of global oil production.
