Ewii director calls for focus on flexibility in the electricity grid

Last week, the Danish National Audit Office criticized delays and additional costs in the expansion of the electricity grid. But they only hit part of the problem. This is according to Lars Bonderup Bjørn, CEO of Ewii, who points to a too one-sided focus on expanding the electricity grid, even though better utilization of capacity can reduce the need. According to the CEO, flexibility can be achieved by shifting consumption or using batteries, among other things. This is reported by Børsen.

- Energinet is measured by their ability to build the electricity grid, and that is how we think of the company. The biggest scandal in this is that Energinet has not focused on flexibility, says Lars Bonderup Bjørn.

He points out that many consumers are already flexible, and that better utilization can reduce the need for large investments in the electricity grid, while electrification increases the pressure.
