The Port of Hirtshals ended 2025 with a turnover of 91.6 million DKK and a profit of 15.5 million DKK. This is the fourth year in a row that the port has set a turnover record. This is stated by the Port of Hirtshals in a press release.
The result is 50 percent higher than in 2024 and is above the expected level. According to the port, the development is due to high activity, more passenger cars and passengers using the quay, as well as a strong customer base.
- Four years in a row with a turnover record and the best result since 2006 underlines that the Port of Hirtshals stands on a strong foundation. This is the result of a clear strategic direction and close interaction between the board of directors, the Port of Hirtshals and our partners, says Michael Lundgaard Thomsen, chairman of the board of directors of the Port of Hirtshals.
In 2025, fish worth 430 million DKK were landed. DKK at the port. This is a decrease from the previous year, primarily due to fewer mackerel landings. On the other hand, the Hirtshals Fish Auction grew by 17 percent, driven by higher prices for consumption fish and more landings of shellfish.
The port has also increased its repair and maintenance expenses by 9 percent, while external costs have been reduced by 5 percent overall. The accounts will help form the basis for investments in the coming years, including an expansion of the port with an extension of the West Pier.
- It is fantastic to be able to present good annual accounts and another record turnover. It is an expression of the fact that we run a healthy business, where we invest in both maintenance and development. The earnings are reinvested in the port, and at the same time we have improved our capital resources through significantly strengthened liquidity - that is, money in the bank, which we can use to settle debts on the new port expansion. It is crucial that we can continue to offer our customers a strong and well-functioning port in the future, says Per Anholm Nørgaard, CEO of the Port of Hirtshals.
