Things are going really well for ADP A/S, which owns and operates the Port of Fredericia and the Port of Nyborg and is responsible for the operation of Middelfart Trafikhavn. The port broke several records in the financial year for the second year in a row.

In 2023, the port company managed to exceed the revenue in 2022, which was otherwise a record year, by 22 percent. At the same time, the operating profit increased by 40 percent, and on the bottom line, a record result of 120.7 million DKK after tax was realized, ADP said in a press release.

- The geopolitical tensions in the world led to interest rate increases and the threat of recession. This has of course affected the transport industry. But despite that and even with a high level of investment, ADP has once again had record-high growth in revenue and earnings and thus presented an extremely satisfactory financial statement, says Christian Herskind, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ADP A/S.

2023 was the year of milestones

The CEO of ADP is also very satisfied with the past year.

- There are enough milestones to take off in 2023, says Rune D. Rasmussen, CEO of ADP, about the past year.

The CEO highlights, among other things, that a port expansion of the Port of Fredericia was initiated, and the establishment of the new company Fredericia Container Terminal A/S – established between ADP and Fredericia Shipping – which will future-proof the capacity for the major development in containerized goods.

In the container terminal, which is the first in Denmark with a direct connection between the port and the hinterland terminal in Taulov Dry Port, the first sod was turned for Maersk's new low-emission warehouse in 2023. In addition, Bestseller took their 60,000 m² warehouse into use in the area. It was also in 2023 that ADP's subsidiary, ADP Energy Infrastructure A/S, was established.

Rune D. Rasmussen does not expect quite as many milestones in 2024. Instead, it is about materializing and developing the projects.

- We have launched a number of successful projects in 2023, and now we must concentrate on following them through and materializing them. There is great interest in leasing land at the Port of Nyborg, which we will develop even more in 2024. Otherwise, it is about completing the last 97,000 m2 of modern storage facilities in Taulov. We must materialize ADP EI, where we expect to be able to showcase our central role in the green value chain in relation to the transport of CO2 and later green fuels. And then we must develop our classic port business, he says.

Growth in ADP creates ripples in the water

The continued growth at ADP is a great pleasure for the group's vice chairman and mayor of Fredericia, Steen Wrist, who points to the port activities in both Nyborg and Fredericia as a major social benefit that spreads ripples in the water:

- In Fredericia, we are proud of ADP's results, for which the management and employees deserve full recognition. It creates great benefits for the owner municipalities to have a business driver in this way, because in both Fredericia and Nyborg there is an influx of new companies and thus more jobs and even more activity in the cities. ADP supports several thousand full-time jobs in the owner municipalities, and that number is gradually increasing with growth, concludes Steen Wrist.

Fredericia Municipality is the main shareholder with 89 percent of the shares in ADP A/S, Nyborg Municipality owns 10.6 percent and Middelfart Municipality owns 0.4 percent.
