The Danish Utilities Authority has issued an order to seven municipalities that have not submitted the required auditor's statements in connection with the annual report on municipal offset.
The deadline expired on September 1, 2025 and documentation was missing from Gribskov, Herlev, Hørsholm, Rudersdal, Rødovre, Vallensbæk and Ærø municipalities, the authority said in a press release.
According to the Electricity, Gas and Heat Supply Act, the authority is tasked with approving the municipalities' statements of values received from their energy companies, including distributions and consideration for the sale of ownership shares. The municipalities must submit both a report and an auditor's statement confirming the information every year within the set deadlines.
"The municipalities affected have been notified in advance, but despite repeated requests, the auditor's statements have not been submitted. The Danish Utilities Authority assesses that this is a violation of the requirement in the executive order in this area to submit auditor's statements on time. The Danish Utilities Authority therefore considers the orders to be a necessary step to ensure that the municipalities meet their obligations," the Danish Utilities Authority writes in the announcement.
