With its existing infrastructure and players throughout the PtX value chain, Fredericia and the Triangle area have great potential to become one of Denmark's future hubs for PtX and CCU. The key to fulfilling the great societal potential is the further development of the existing infrastructure, so that production, supply and distribution are connected. The right hydrogen infrastructure in the area must, among other things, ensure production of the fuels of the future close to the customers.

Based on the initiatives and plans for local hydrogen infrastructure that are already taking shape at ADP in Fredericia, ADP's goal is to make Fredericia Denmark's hub for green fuels within reach.

A new cooperation agreement between Evida and ADP on the establishment of local and regional hydrogen infrastructure helps push forward these ambitions. The parties have signed a memorandum of understanding, a so-called Memorandum of Understanding, so that they will be able to integrate local and regional hydrogen infrastructure from the planning phase through to establishment and operation. This is stated in a joint press release.

Fredericia has great potential for the production and distribution of green fuels for heavy transport, such as shipping and the aviation industry, says Steen Wrist, vice chairman of ADP A/S' board and mayor of Fredericia Municipality. He continues:

- Therefore, it is very positive that work is now being done to connect the local and regional hydrogen infrastructure, and the collaboration between Evida and ADP is a very good extension of the work that the area's major energy players have already initiated in the development of Fredericia as an energy hub.

Preliminary studies for brown infrastructure in progress

Evida is currently conducting preliminary studies of selected possible routes for the hydrogen infrastructure of the future. This applies, for example, to a pipeline between Esbjerg and Fredericia via Egtved. The preliminary study reveals, among other things, the economic and technical prerequisites for establishing the hydrogen pipeline.

The collaboration with ADP will be included as a natural part of the ongoing feasibility study, so that local hydrogen infrastructure in the Fredericia area and regional hydrogen infrastructure are considered together.

- Evida's approach to working on a future hydrogen infrastructure is market-based, and the dialogue with the market indicates a great need for infrastructure to connect buyers and producers of hydrogen. Therefore, it is important to already now enter into collaboration with ADP and other market players in order to achieve the most optimal interaction and development of Denmark's future hydrogen infrastructure, says CEO of Evida, Kim Søgård Bering Kristensen.

The collaboration between Evida and ADP will be concretized and developed over the coming time in parallel with the two companies continuing their respective strategic planning of infrastructure at regional/national and local levels. ADP expects that the first construction works can be initiated in 2026 – 2027.
