Fredericia and the Triangle Area's infrastructure must be ready to be the future hub in Denmark for PtX, CO2 capture and storage, and production of green fuels. This is one of the ambitions that the municipally owned port company ADP has with the establishment of the subsidiary ADP Energy Infrastructure.

With the establishment of ADP Energy Infrastructure, ADP also announces ambitions for estimated investments of more than one billion DKK in the development of infrastructure, in order to achieve the green goal, ADP states in a statement.

- The establishment of the subsidiary is a natural extension of ADP's strategic development, where significant investments in new and future-proof infrastructure must support the Triangle Area's and Denmark's goals for the green transition. Based on ADP's ports and Taulov Dry Port, we are establishing the necessary infrastructure, which is a central element in further developing our position as an infrastructure provider. In this way, we can continue our growth and exploit the future business potential that lies in becoming the link in the PtX value chain, says Erik Østergaard, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ADP.

Prior to the establishment of the new infrastructure company, a long-term strategic preparatory work has been carried out with analysis and mapping of the potential of the Triangle Area and Fredericia with regard to further developing the area's central infrastructure.

The infrastructure must support the sectoral coupling across the supply, production and distribution of CO2 and green fuels to benefit Denmark's climate goals towards 2030. Analyses have shown that the total potential for CO2 amounts to more than 1 million tons towards 2030 and several million. tons towards 2040.

Collaboration with companies

The realization of a leading hub for future PtX and CO2 capture and storage must take place in partnerships and through sector integration between the Triangle Area's players such as Crossbridge Energy, Billund Airport, Ørsted, Everfuel, TVIS, Nature Energy, Triangle Energy Alliance and the municipalities in the Triangle Area.

In 2026, ADP Energy Infrastructure A/S will have established infrastructure that will connect the various hubs together, so that the players in the Triangle Area can together fulfill the potential of Denmark's green transition. Similarly, companies will also be able to contribute significantly to growth and job creation in the industry.

- With the infrastructure we plan to establish, we have prioritized overall flexibility, which makes it possible to support multiple types of CO2 suppliers and consumers, while enabling both storage and use of CO2 depending on the current market situation. Our approach is that we must be able to scale the infrastructure and investments, which enables industrial growth based on growing exports and imports for the production of green fuels, so that Denmark and the Triangle region can act and create an international positioning, says Rune D. Rasmussen, CEO of ADP.
