In 2021, 1,912,371 tonnes of goods have passed over the quay at the Port of Aabenraa. This corresponds to approx. 3.6 tons per minute every day all year round. This is an increase of 13 per cent. compared to 2020 and the best result since the financial crisis, the port writes in a press release.
The Port of Aabenraa is the only commercial port left in South Jutland, and at the same time the port is the only bulk port for raw materials left in an even larger geographical area. And it is especially bulk bulk cargo that is the explanation for the new record.
- The amount of bulk we handle at the Port of Aabenraa has been steadily increasing throughout 2021. This is because bulk is the lifeblood of many Southern Jutland and Northern German companies within, among other things, industry, the construction industry and agriculture. Their operation and production is dependent on the bulk that either arrives at or is shipped out from the Port of Aabenraa, explains port director Henrik Thykjær, who expects the port to break records once again in 2022.
