NKT's Czech subsidiary, NKT s.r.o., has received a statement of objections from the Office for the Protection of Competition in the Czech Republic in an ongoing investigation into possible anti-competitive practices in the Czech cable market. NKT said in a press release.

According to the authorities, certain past practices among NKT and five other cable manufacturers may constitute violations of Czech and EU competition rules. The authority has therefore proposed fines for the parties involved. NKT did not disclose the size of the potential fine, but the company does not intend to sit idly by.

"NKT disputes the authorities' findings and the alleged violations that form the basis of the proposed fine, and the company will present its reasoned defense to the authorities. If the Statement of Objections is upheld by the Czech authorities, NKT will consider all available legal remedies, including an appeal to the Czech courts," NKT wrote in the statement.

Loss in a similar case in Slovakia

At the same time, NKT informs that in a related case in Slovakia, the company has received a first-instance decision from the country's competition authority in February 2026.

That decision has not been in NKT's favor and has therefore been appealed to the Council of the Competition Office, and if the decision is upheld, NKT is prepared to bring the case before the Slovak courts.

Final decisions from the competition authorities in both the Czech Republic and Slovakia are expected no later than of 2027. However, the cases could extend over several years if they are processed in court.

"NKT takes these cases seriously, and remains committed to full cooperation with the authorities and to maintaining responsible and ethical business standards," the cable manufacturer said.

At the same time, NKT states that the case does not change the company's financial expectations for 2026.
