After a long absence from the French offshore market, Siemens Gamesa has now made a breakthrough with two orders for upcoming offshore projects, Siemens Gamesa informs on its website.
These are the Fécamp and Bay of Saint Brieuc projects, which are 497 and 496 MW respectively.
The first order came for the Bay of Saint Brieuc project from Ailes Marines, which is owned by the Spanish Iberdrola, which, like Siemens Gamesa, has focused on entering the French market in 2020. The order consists of 62 SG 8.0-167 DD wind turbines.
Shortly after celebrating the first offshore order, the subsequent order came shortly after from a consortium led by GTM Normanide-Centre for their upcoming wind farm at Fécamp. The order consists of 71 SWT-7.0-154 wind turbines.
Both wind farms will be located in the English Channel, while the blades for both projects will be produced at a factory in Le Havre.
In addition, Siemens Gamesa expects further orders for a number of French projects for 1.5 GW.
