There is still hope for fishermen who fear for their livelihood if the Hesselø Offshore Wind Farm remains at its current proposed location. According to the fishermen, the current location of the wind farm will remove one of the last good fishing grounds for Norway lobster. Therefore, the fishermen have proposed, among other things, a new location southeast of Hesselø and closer to land than the current one in a citizens' proposal. And that proposal is not just swept off the table by the responsible minister, writes SN.dk.
"The southern part of the area is part of an ongoing analysis of possible alternative locations for the offshore wind farm, which can be used if this proves necessary," reads a response from Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities Dan Jørgensen (S) to a query from DF's energy spokesperson Morten Messerschmidt about the minister's position on the fishermen's proposal for location.
The tender for the offshore wind farm has currently been put on hold by the Danish Energy Agency, as seabed surveys have shown that the seabed is less suitable for building an offshore wind farm than had been expected. Seabed conditions may pose challenges in the establishment, and alternative locations are now being sought.
