Fishermen want Hesselø Offshore Wind Farm to be moved

The current location of the Hesselø Offshore Wind Farm clashes with an important fishing ground for fishermen in Gilleje.

The Hesselø Offshore Wind Farm must be moved, otherwise it will mean the closure of fishing from Gilleleje. This is the appeal from the fishermen at Gilleleje Harbour. The chosen location for the wind farm is an important place for fishermen to trawl for spiny lobsters and if the wind farm is established there, it will no longer be possible, writes TV2 Lorry.

- If the chosen location of the wind farm is maintained, it will no longer be possible to fish from Gilleleje, says Lasse Nordahl, who is the auctioneer of the harbour.

The wind farm has been moved once, after the first location was on the Armed Forces area. Therefore, the fishermen also hope that the wind farm can be moved again and have themselves come up with a proposal for a new location that will not have the same harmful impact on the fishery. The fishermen are supported by a unanimous Development, Urban and Rural Affairs Committee in Gribskov Municipality.

The Danish Energy Agency and the Danish Environmental Protection Agency have just concluded a consultation round, which ran until March 19.

Here, citizens, companies and other stakeholders could make suggestions for what should be included in the considerations when a strategic environmental assessment of the plan for the Hesselø Offshore Wind Farm and the environmental assessment of the specific construction project on land are to be carried out. The results of the consultation have not yet been presented.

The schedule for the completion of the Hesselø Offshore Wind Farm was brought forward this summer from 2028 to 2027. Hesselø is planned to have an effect of between 800-1,200 MW and will be located in Hesselø Bugt at least 30 km from the coast of North Zealand.
