A broad majority in the Danish Parliament signed a climate agreement on Monday night, which, among other things, establishes two energy islands and prepares for a tax reform with a tax on CO2.
In addition, there was also clarification on the future of a possible stand-alone offshore wind farm at Hesselø, which has now been given the green light. The upcoming offshore wind farm 'Park 2' is also being brought forward as part of the climate agreement.
There had otherwise been doubts about the possible future of the stand-alone offshore wind farm, as Climate Minister Dan Jørgensen (S) had previously said that in the future they would instead focus on energy islands rather than stand-alone offshore wind farms.
However, the new agreement has made room for both, whereby an energy island in the North Sea of 3 GW, one at Bornholm of 2 GW and a stand-alone offshore wind farm at Hesselø of 1 GW will be established.
