THISTED: After a citizens' meeting on Saturday, citizens in Østerild in Thy are still frustrated and insecure when it comes to the possibility of a test center for wind turbines being expanded. At the meeting, Morten Dahlin (V), who is Minister for Urban and Rural Areas, answered questions from the citizens in attendance.
On Thursday, a majority in the Folketing decided to proceed with plans to expand and adapt a wind turbine center in Østerild. This means that a so-called environmental and habitat impact assessment must first be made. It must uncover the project's consequences for the environment, nature and landscape.
The assessment is expected to be completed in one and a half to two years. A final decision will then be made. A screening carried out by the Danish Planning and Rural Development Agency has so far shown that around 24 houses and 11 summer houses will have to be demolished as a result of the center's expansion. In addition, the maximum height of two of the center's nine current test sites will be changed to 450 meters. For comparison, the Eiffel Tower in Paris is 300 meters, excluding the antenna on the top of the tower.
