HANSTHOLM: Things are happening in Hanstholm Port these days. On Tuesday, the port was able to reveal a cooperation agreement with European Energy, which, among other things, will investigate the possibility of placing a PtX plant on the port's land. Today, the name of the port's new chairman has emerged.

And it is a prominent man who will be at the helm of the northwestern Jutland port in the future. The choice has thus fallen on the former Minister of Finance, Foreign Affairs and Taxation and Deputy Chairman of the Liberal Party, Kristian Jensen, Thisted Municipality informs in a press release.

- We have reached the goal of expanding the port, and we have really big ambitions for its development. That requires a strong profile as chairman, and we have that in Kristian Jensen. So I am both happy and proud that we have succeeded in getting him to the board table, says Mayor of Thisted Municipality, Niels Jørgen Pedersen (V).

According to the mayor, Kristian Jensen, with his broad political experience, is the right person to lead the fishing port into the next and exciting chapter, where the development of new business adventures is necessary for the future of Hanstholm Port. The incoming chairman looks forward to taking up the challenge.

- Hanstholm Port must continue to be a fishing port, but at the same time I see a fantastic opportunity to also stand on other legs. It must be energy and sustainability, but it can also be processing, tourism and other new paths. We have a huge opportunity for development, says Kristian Jensen.

In addition to his 23 years as an elected politician at Christiansborg with both ministerial positions, chairmanships and rapporteurships, the CV of 50-year-old Kristian Jensen includes a banking education and organizational work and most recently the position as special envoy for the government in the efforts for a seat on the UN Security Council. Now he is looking forward to pulling on the work clothes for a company that has clearly shown the will to break new ground:

- I share the vision that the Port of Hanstholm should be the first CO2-neutral fishing port in Europe. I have worked with sustainability in my work with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, and here I can continue that work on a tangible level. In addition, I see great growth potential for both development and jobs in a part of Denmark that needs it. I would like to contribute to that, says Kristian Jensen.

Kristian Jensen is one of four business representatives appointed to the Hanstholm Port Board by Thisted Municipality. He will be officially elected to the position of Chairman of the Board at a meeting of the Municipal Council on January 25. He takes over the position from Kirsten Hede, who thus only managed to hold the position for five months.
