AARHUS: The final negotiations between the parties in the city council should begin next week in the case of a possible expansion of the Port of Aarhus.
But apparently some parties have already started the negotiations. At least that's what independent Jakob Søgaard Clausen thinks, who is now harshly criticizing Mayor Jacob Bundsgaard (S). This is reported by TV2 Østjylland.
- It is arrogance beyond all limits to just hold political negotiations with friends and then pretend that the real political negotiations will only start later, he writes in a post on Facebook.
Rejects the criticism
The reason for the controversy is that, according to Jakob Søgaard Clausen, the city council's politicians received around 300 pages on January 27, which included reports, analyses and recommendations from a citizens' panel. Two days later, the city council was supposed to have started negotiations on what an expansion of the port could look like.
However, it was far too short a time to prepare properly, believed a number of critics in the city council, including Jakob Søgaard Clausen, and the mayor therefore postponed the negotiations until February 7. But during this week, the independent began to hear something from his political colleagues.
- I hear from several parties that they have been to negotiations and have met with the mayor. I am somewhat surprised when we have been told that it is not until Tuesday that we have been told that we will meet for negotiations, says Jakob Søgaard Clausen.
TV2 Østjylland has contacted Mayor Jacob Bundsgaard (S) on Sunday for a comment on the criticism. He rejects dirty tricks and calls it "natural" that he meets with other parties.
- The holding of an exploratory meeting last week seems quite far within our normal democratic rules of the game. Just as Jakob Søgaard meets with other parties, it is natural that the Social Democrats meet with other parties, the mayor writes in a text message.
Jacob Bundsgaard adds that he always holds meetings with different parties before final negotiations.
