AARHUS: There will be no extra vote for Aarhusians at the upcoming general election - on the city's harbor expansion. This was announced by city council member Gert Bjerregaard (V) to TV2 Østjylland after Wednesday's city council meeting.
- There was a broad discussion, and we were informed, among other things, that it would cost six million kroner to hold, even though it is done together with the general election. And then it requires much longer preparation to get issues and opportunities highlighted, it would not be possible to prepare for that issue in such a short time. For us, it is important that when you put such a complex question to a vote, you know what you want to vote on, whether it is yes or no, how big the expansion is and so on, says Gert Bjerregaard.
A citizens' panel has contributed with input to the debate on the expansion, and there are a record number of consultation responses and a large turnout in connection with citizens' meetings about the future port area. Gert Bjerregaard estimates, according to the channel, that the politicians may be ready with a decision on the expansion by March-April.
