The work on the construction of the gas pipeline for Baltic Pipe on Zealand has been affected by demonstrations, technical challenges with, among other things, welding, bad weather in the spring and last autumn and most recently corona restrictions.
Therefore, Energinet must now acknowledge that the construction will be delayed and will not be completed until next summer.
- Our contractor has not been able to follow the schedule we have agreed on, and we are therefore far behind. We must acknowledge that we cannot finish this year before the weather becomes too bad for the heavy construction work, says Nina Frøkjær Vendelboe, project manager at Energinet.
This means, among other things, that the affected landowners will lose another season's crops on the 32-meter-wide work belt and other work areas that are used for the construction work on Baltic Pipe. The landowners will receive compensation for the inconvenience and the lost crops.
- Unfortunately, this will affect a large number of our landowners, who will have to wait much longer than we had originally expected. We are of course very sorry about this, and we regret the additional inconvenience this will cause for the landowners. We are doing everything we can to both minimize the inconvenience and complete the work as quickly as possible.
Energinet is postponing the completion of the construction until next summer instead of the end of 2020, which has been the plan so far. The new schedule is still dependent on the weather.
