The Port of Esbjerg has broken ground on a new 5,000 m2 warehouse. The building will be located on the site of the former ferry terminal, from which DFDS sailed goods to England. This will provide direct access to the quay and close proximity to other operators such as Ørsted and Vattenfall. The hall is expected to be completed in June 2025.
- We are very pleased to be able to strengthen our collaboration with Ziton and look forward to them choosing the Port of Esbjerg as a base for their long-term operations, says Jesper Bank, Commercial Director at the Port of Esbjerg.
- The new warehouse is part of our ongoing efforts to meet the increasing demand for maintenance of wind turbines in the North Sea. We see massive growth in this area, adds Jesper Bank.
Ziton: Esbjerg is a strategically important location
Thorsten Jalk, CEO of Ziton, sees the new warehouse facility as an important step in the company's future growth.
- The Port of Esbjerg has always been a strategically important location for us. The requirements for specialized lifting equipment are increasing, and with the new warehouse we will be able to store our equipment closer to the operations in the North Sea. This will improve our logistics, efficiency and service level for our customers, says Thorsten Jalk.
Ziton has performed over 1,700 main component replacements on wind turbines, worked on two-thirds of all turbine sites in Northern Europe and serviced 1,250 turbines in total.
- The Port of Esbjerg provides the perfect framework and is a central part of an offshore wind hub, where collaboration and shared competencies are necessary. The location is therefore ideal, says Thorsten Jalk.
