Vesta customers are being blackmailed with data from cyberattacks

More than a terabyte of data was stolen by the hacker group Lockbit, which was behind the attack on Vestas in November. Vestas was tried to be blackmailed, but the hackers' demands were not met, which is why large parts have been leaked. However, not all of the data has been released at once. Instead, several of Vestas' partners have been tried to be blackmailed using data from the Vestas attack. This is shown by a review of the data that the media Version2 has done in collaboration with the French IT media LeMag It.

Specifically, the hackers have sorted out information regarding the companies Schneider Electrics, Ducab Energy from the United Arab Emirates and Indian Continuum Energy. This information has been published separately in order to blackmail the companies. writes Version2.

- Ransomware is a big industry, and I am not surprised that the cartels are doing everything they can to strengthen their position in the market. You could say that what they have done here is to make it a little more user-friendly in terms of exploiting and abusing and sharing this data and seeing who is involved in the leak, says Carsten Schürmann, professor of IT security at the IT University of Copenhagen.
