Valmont SM, a major supplier of steel structures and towers for wind turbines, is planning to move into a new factory at the Port of Esbjerg. However, Valmont has not made a final decision on the construction, but has entered into an exclusive agreement for the first right to an area in the east harbor, writes JydskeVestkysten.
The Port of Esbjerg announced a year ago that an agreement had been reached with an unnamed manufacturer of towers for wind turbines to move in. Valmont is the manufacturer. At that time, it was announced that the port would build a factory for 250 million kr., which the company would use, but since then the price for the factory has grown to 500 million kr., says Port Director Dennis Jul Pedersen, who, despite the price increase, is pleased with the agreement.
- We are noticing increased activity, and the agreement fits perfectly into our plans to contribute to the enormous development of offshore wind in the coming decades, he says, emphasizing that the agreement is in line with the recently initiated port expansion, which will, among other things, be used for storing large wind turbine components, he says.
