After more than 18 years on the market, Scada International is bringing its acquired companies together under one new common identity that reflects their broader role in the energy sector, where they support customers throughout the entire value chain.
The new name comes after a year of record growth and four acquisitions. The rebranding also follows the British private equity fund Magnesium Capital's acquisition of a majority stake in Scada International in 2022. The collaboration has helped accelerate the company's growth and its focus on promoting the green transition. Therefore, the company no longer believes that the name Scada International, which is associated with “Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition,” is adequate for the company's scope.
- When we founded Scada International back in 2006, our goal was to help customers with Scada-related tasks, primarily within hardware solutions and consulting work. This was where the need was, and therefore the name Scada International was very appropriate, says CEO Thomas Bagger in a press release.
New name should show broader focus
The name Opoura is a contraction of Optimize Performance of Your Assets and emphasizes the company's mission to help customers get the most out of their investments in renewable energy. Optimizing customers' energy production is precisely the common thread that runs across the company's business areas.
- Today, however, customers are increasingly looking for solutions that can optimize their production and secure their data. That is why software and digital solutions are also an important part of our portfolio. In this way, we have always developed in step with customer needs and market changes. With the acquisitions of the past year, the time has now come for this development to also be reflected in our name. That is why I am incredibly proud and happy to present Opoura, which is our new name.
The rebranding means that the four former group companies – Sweet Geeks, Next Consult, Quantec Systems GmbH and Scada International – are now united under one common name, while NovoGrid continues as a separate part under Opoura. Although the name changes, the company will continue to operate as before from its base in Denmark.
