The government will quadruple the amount of electricity from solar and wind

According to the government, Denmark should have twice as much electricity from wind and ten times as much electricity from solar by 2030.

In eight years, wind turbines and solar cells will produce four times as much electricity as they do today. At least if it's up to the government and Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities Dan Jørgensen (S).

This is what DR writes, which has gained insight into the government's reform proposal, Denmark can do more II, which will be presented on Tuesday.

Denmark must have reduced its energy emissions by 70 percent by 2030 compared to 1990.

That's why Denmark is busy, says Dan Jørgensen.

- That means it has to go really fast, and you just have to note that what is cheap, fast and green is to make wind on land and solar on land, he says.

The minister suggests that the electricity from solar cells should be increased tenfold and the electricity from wind turbines doubled.

Overall, this will result in a fourfold increase, he says. And it is realistic in terms of space for solar and wind farms, it says.

Dan Jørgensen acknowledges that there may be resistance to more solar cells and wind turbines when they are placed in the landscape.

But at the same time, he says that many Danes can see the necessity of becoming independent of Russian gas and ensuring a rapid green transition.

Director of the business organization Green Power Denmark, Jan Hylleberg, calls the move "big" and "great", according to DR.

He believes that it is realistic, but that "the entire toolbox must be used". This means, among other things, that the electricity grid must be expanded to make it easier to create new solar and wind projects on land.

Dan Jørgensen agrees with this.

The Minister of Climate says that there must be a close dialogue with the municipalities to find out what is holding back development.

And that will probably mean that the current rules must be looked at and made "easier and more flexible".

Both Dan Jørgensen and Jan Hylleberg believe that the transition can be good business for Denmark.

Some of the green electricity can help Germany with its green transition, it says.
