Ørsted has signed an installation contract with Seaway7 for the delivery of transport and installation of inter-array cables for the Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm, which is to be built in the British part of the North Sea. With the contract, Seaway7 will be responsible for the transport and installation of 66 kV inter-array cables between each of Hornsea 3's wind turbines and two offshore converter stations. In total, the cables measure approximately 500 kilometers, Ørsted said in a press release.
The contract with Seaway7 is central to realizing the construction of the offshore components of the Hornsea 3 wind farm. When the project is complete, Hornsea 3, with its 197 turbines, will be able to produce green electricity to supply more than 3.3 million UK households.
- This contract represents one of the major connections at Hornsea 3 and brings us closer to building the world's largest single offshore wind farm, says Luke Bridgman, Managing Director of Hornsea 3 at Ørsted.
