AARHUS: Since 2020, the energy company NRGi has been planning to build two 150-meter-high wind turbines at the Port of Aarhus, plans that have been given the green light by the Aarhus City Council, but now NRGi wants the option to build even taller turbines. It appears from a planning request that NRGi has sent to the Municipality of Aarhus, writes JP Aarhus.
The energy company wants the option to build turbines up to 220 meters high. The request comes after consultation with the Port of Aarhus and the port's pilots. Here, the parties have concluded that turbines with a height of 150 meters could have a negative impact on maritime conditions.
- The wind turbines must be of a model higher than 150 meters to ensure sufficient clearance under their rotors. The clearance must ensure that in the event of an engine stop during the approach of cruise ships with high freeboards in particular, there will be no collisions between ships and wind turbine rotors. We are requesting a voluntary EIA process and look forward to further cooperation with the administration, writes senior project developer Allan Dahl Larsen, NRGi Renewables A/S according to JP Aarhus to Aarhus Municipality.
