RWE has just announced that Siemens Gamesa will deliver the wind turbines to Thor Offshore Wind Farm, and thus will be part of the project off Thorsminde, whose port will be the service port for the offshore wind farm. It brings joy to Holstebro Municipality that the project is now one step closer to realization. At the same time, Mayor H.C. Østerby (S) assures that Thorsminde Port and Holstebro Municipality are ready to welcome them.
- We are ready for crew changes, premises, management, and less supply from the port. We have proven that we are able to create partnerships and that we are competitive. The wind turbines are admittedly too large to be shipped out from Thorsminde, but there is no doubt that we hope that some of our West Jutland port colleagues will be given that task, says the mayor in a press release.
With the choice of turbine supplier, RWE is one step closer to delivering the one GW large offshore wind farm, which is due to be ready in 2027 and supply one million Danish households with electricity.
The fact that the supplier of wind turbines has been finalized is yet another reason to be happy about the strong partnership between RWE, Thorsminde Port and Holstebro Municipality.
- The increased activity in Thorsminde is of great benefit to the business community. What we have dreamed of is now becoming a reality, and I am delighted about the potential and perspective the business adventure will have, both for Thorsminde and for the entire municipality, and which will generally support everything that happens at the port of Thorsminde, says H.C. Østerby, mayor of Holstebro Municipality.
