EWII is now entering the Finnish market with an investment in two wind farms through its joint venture with Japan's Tokyo Gas, TOWII Renewables. The energy group announced this in a statement.
The two farms will be built in Raahe Municipality in the central region of Northern Ostrobothnia and will each house six wind turbines. According to the plan, all 12 turbines will be operational in the first half of 2027, which will give a total capacity of approximately 74.4 MW.
- The investment in not just one but two Finnish wind farms is a milestone for the EWII Group and our joint venture TOWII Renewables. The ambition from the beginning has been to develop and expand the capacity of green energy, and that is why I am very pleased that we now have two concrete projects that advance the green transition in a European perspective, says Lars Bonderup Bjørn, CEO of the EWII Group.
The plan is to sell the projects on after construction to raise capital for new investments in renewable energy. According to EWII, investments outside Denmark are part of the strategy.
- There has been a lot of talk about the lack of green transition in Denmark recently. We share that criticism, and that is precisely why it is important that we do something in places other than Denmark. The climate challenges are global, and it contributes to the common good to reduce CO2 emissions, regardless of whether it is in Finland or Denmark. Therefore, it is also possible to imagine that we will consider other geographies, says Lars Bonderup Bjørn.
