While the government calls its proposal for a finance law for this year "strict", the Unity Party, on the contrary, says that it is "irresponsible".
- It is an irresponsible finance law. Irresponsible towards the climate, towards welfare, and towards the people who are currently struggling with the economy due to rising prices, says Pelle Dragsted, who is the finance spokesman for the Unity Party.
- In return, the government is handing out generous gifts to property speculators and pacifying those who are spinning gold on inflation, he says.
The Unity Party has already been invited to a meeting on the upcoming finance law on Friday afternoon.
- The Unity Party, of course, always goes into negotiations with constructive, solidary proposals on how we can solve society's challenges. But what the government is proposing does not bode well for either ordinary people or the planet we live on, says Pelle Dragsted.
Alternativet also lacks money for the climate in the government's budget bill.
Just as the government has created an emergency package for the health service, Alternativet's finance spokesperson, Christina Olumeko, is calling for a "green emergency package".
- The government is not usually afraid to talk about a crisis. But the climate crisis, the biodiversity crisis, the natural crisis are not mentioned in a word. Any responsible government should see it as its main task to solve them first, says Alternativet's finance spokesperson, Christina Olumeko.
Thin cup of tea
The Danish Democrats call the proposal "a thin cup of tea".
- A reform government that wants to articulate the problems, but has no proposals for solutions. We need more money to boost elderly care, healthcare and rural areas, writes Peter Skaarup (DD) in a tweet.
Unlike the previous election period, the government has a majority alone and therefore in principle does not need to get more parties involved in an agreement on a finance law. But the government is, as usual, preparing to negotiate with the parties in the Folketing.
Finance Minister Nicolai Wammen (S) said at the press conference where the finance law proposal is presented that the government expects to be able to reach an agreement quickly. The finance law has already been delayed.
Normally the finance law is in place before Christmas, but due to the general election in November and long government negotiations, a finance law was not adopted before the New Year. Therefore, the Folketing passed a temporary appropriations law before Christmas, which has made it possible for the state to continue the necessary activities into 2023.
