Energinet has adopted a new method to ensure faster electricity connections for companies with urgent needs. This is done with the company's first mobile high-voltage station, which has just been built at Søstremose Station near Kalundborg. Energinet writes.
The facility consists of a mobile technical building and a GIS system in a container, which can be moved together to areas where the need for power is particularly urgent. It is currently to be located in Kalundborg. Here it will temporarily secure the supply to, among others, Novo Nordisk for a four-year period, while a new permanent station, Oleshøj, is being built.
- The facility is the first of its kind in Energinet, and it represents an efficient and flexible solution to the problem of connecting large customers to the grid while we are in the process of reinforcing and expanding the grid. The facility will, for example, easier to get outages at other, older facilities while they are being renovated or expanded, and in this way the facility can help create momentum for our facility projects, says Carsten Hestbech, project manager for the mobile facility at Energinet.
The mobile station was assembled and made ready for use in less than three weeks. Now, about half a year of installation work awaits to connect the GIS facility to the technical building, test and ensure that everything works before external customers can be connected. The connection itself will take a few months before the mobile facility can be put into operation in the spring of 2026.
