On Tuesday, the Danish Democrats had called for a consultation to discuss the consequences of the state-owned solar and wind farms that are planned to be built in the coming years. The party raised questions about job creation and the impact on wildlife, especially the latter, which sparked the debate. The Danish Democrats will use the newt and other endangered animals as an argument to stop solar farms. This led to a heated debate, in which Green Tripartite Minister Jeppe Bruus (S) reacted sharply to the criticism. This is written by Jyllands-Posten.
- If I can use a newt as an argument to stop a state-owned energy park, that's what I'll do, said Susie Jessen, political spokesperson for the Danish Democrats, and continued:
- Because people obviously don't care at all that citizens also live in this (…). Their dream home will be completely surrounded by iron fields on all sides. 18 wind turbines will be plastered in a local forest that the citizens use. There is no proper discussion of how this will dismantle local communities, said Susie Jessen.
Jeppe Bruus rejected the criticism and emphasized that the state-owned energy parks will create development, not dismantling. He was also dissatisfied with the fact that the Denmark Democrats invoked environmental concerns in their opposition, when the party has chosen to stand outside the green tripartite, which creates new forests and converts 15 percent of agricultural land into nature.
- It is a confession when you say that if it is the newt that we have to promote, then we will do it. But otherwise, people are completely indifferent to what kind of marine environment we have out in our watersheds, where relatively many of us are concerned that we should not just look out at some greasy shit, but actually want to bring life back – which is of course connected to the way we produce and emit nitrogen on the fields,« said Jeppe Bruus. said Jeppe Bruus, Minister for the Green Tripartite.
