Danske Commodities has won a tender to provide route-to-market services for the Thor offshore wind project. With a capacity of 1.1 GW, the project will be Denmark's largest of its kind and is expected to be able to supply green electricity to over one million households when fully operational. This was announced by Danske Commodities in a press release.
- We are proud to become part of Denmark's largest offshore wind project as a route-to-market partner for Thor. With more than 20 years of experience from the Danish electricity market, we will use our trading skills to connect the electricity production from Thor with the market and create value for our partners, says Jakob Sørensen, CEO of Danske Commodities.
The project is being developed by RWE in partnership with Norges Bank Investment Management. Thor Offshore Wind Farm will be built 22 km off Thorsminde on the west coast of Jutland and will consist of 72 wind turbines. The project will increase the share of renewable energy in Denmark and contribute to reducing CO2 emissions.
- Danske Commodities has many years of documented results in balancing renewable energy production, supported by our market-leading competencies in algorithmic trading and weather analysis, says Jakob Sørensen.
Danske Commodities currently manages a contract portfolio of 17 GW in renewable energy and flexible assets in Europe. Thor delivered its first power to the Danish grid on Tuesday. The wind farm is expected to be put into full commercial operation in 2027.
