Vestas' production in Ringkøbing has been hit by a corona outbreak, which has resulted in more than 100 of the 240 employees on the night shift being sent home as either infected or close contact with an infected person. This has hit production – and will also hit the economy, writes Dagbladet Ringkøbing-Skjern.
- It costs a lot of money when we can't run full production. I'd rather not put a number on it. But as it looks right now, we've probably lost revenue of between 200 and 400 million. DKK, says Tommy Rahbek Nielsen, production director for Vestas' production in Ringkøbing.
Tommy Rahbek Nielsen says that the focus right now is on stopping the spread of infection. Among other things, Vestas has resumed systematic rapid testing of its employees – something that had otherwise been stopped due to low infection pressure – and has also tried to establish PCR testing at the factory, but without success.
