A new record for solar parks in Italy is likely to be set soon. In any case, Danish European Energy has obtained a building permit for a new solar park near Catania in Sicily, which will be Italy's largest to date. The Danish developer announced this in a statement.
The project involves the construction of a solar park with a capacity of 250 MW. When the plant is in operation, it will generate renewable energy equivalent to the consumption of 130,000 households.
- Italy is a key country and market for European energy, and the approval of this project represents an important milestone for our company. We have proven on several occasions that we are capable of deploying large renewable energy projects in Italy, and we look forward to delivering another important solar park for the benefit of Italian society, says Knud Erik Andersen, CEO of European Energy.
European Energy has already built several solar parks in Italy, including the 130 MW Troia project in the Apulia region of Italy, which was the largest solar park in Italy when it was connected to the grid.
