It was with pride that Thisted Municipality in January appointed the former Minister of Finance, Foreign Affairs and Taxation and Deputy Chairman of the Liberal Party, Kristian Jensen as the new Chairman of the Board of Hanstholm Port with effect from March.
- We have reached our goal with the expansion of the port, and we have really big ambitions for its development. This requires a strong profile as chairman, and we have that in Kristian Jensen. So I am both happy and proud that we have succeeded in getting him at the board table, said Mayor of Thisted Municipality, Niels Jørgen Pedersen (V), when Kristian Jensen was introduced.
The former V-profile was to lead the port into a new chapter, among other things. with a greener profile for the port, which has a goal of becoming Europe's greenest fishing port and plans for a PtX facility on the port's grounds.
Surprising email
Everything went according to plan, and Kristian Jensen attended several information meetings leading up to the inaugural board meeting and spoke, among other things, in an interview with DK Havenergi about his ambitions for Hanstholm Port. On March 16, he was also officially installed as chairman of the port.
But just a week later, Kristian Jensen's board colleagues had to let their joy be replaced by surprise and disappointment, because here Kristian Jensen announced in an email that his time at the helm of the port had to end already, as he had been given a job as director in the merger between Dansk Energi, Wind Denmark and Dansk Solkraft called Green Power Denmark.
- But with the job he has been given, he would hardly have had any opportunity to continue as chairman of the board. It's a shame that he's quitting, but I'm sure we'll find a qualified replacement, says a surprised deputy mayor and chair of Thisted Municipality's committee for business, climate, environment and technology Jen Kr. Yde (K), who is the municipality's representative on the board of the municipally owned self-governing port, to Nordjyske.
Therefore, he only managed to attend one official board meeting as chairman.
