FREDERIKSHAVN: In April, Frederikshavn Municipality's municipal director, Thomas Eriksen, filed a police report due to suspicions of a leak of confidential documents from a closed city council meeting about the crisis-stricken Frederikshavn Port, which have since been taken back by the municipality.

But just 18 days later, the municipal director himself presented secret material from closed points at city council meetings. This happened at a meeting he himself invited journalists from Nordjyske to, writes lokalmediet.

- Then I can show you what's up and down in these things, without you being given the documents. You can of course request access to the documents, but then most of it will be crossed out, Thomas Eriksen said in connection with the invitation.

At the meeting, according to Nordjyske, Thomas Eriksen presented confidential documents, including from a closed case from a city council meeting in September 2023, where a request from Frederikshavn Port to sell off land was considered. The practice is met with criticism from several experts in administrative law.

- It is strange that the municipal director gives the information with one hand, and with the other hand he reports the municipal council to the police for breaking secrets, says Frederik Waage, professor of administrative law from the University of Southern Denmark.

Thomas Eriksen denies in a written response to Nordjyske that it was secret documents that were presented at the meeting with the journalists.
