FREDERIKSHAVN: There are major problems with the Port of Frederikshavn, which is plagued by a massive debt of approximately 1.5 billion. DKK.
It is a situation that is so critical that the municipality, which owns the port, has had to guarantee loans several times that were necessary to ensure the continued operation of the Port of Frederikshavn, and thus avoid the municipality having to take over the operation of the port, which today has the status of a municipal self-governing port.
But how did it end up so bad? The mayor of Frederikshavn Municipality, Birgit S. Hansen (S), will now investigate. Therefore, the city council will decide at its meeting on Wednesday whether to order a legal study of the port for the period 2012 to 2024. This is reported by TV2 Nord.
A legal study is an expensive affair, and it is a rarity in municipalities. According to the mayor, the study will be the first in her 20-year term on the city council.
- The port has already cost a lot of money, and I know that it won't make us any richer. But we can't really move forward until we have some answers. I think a legal study will meet that, says the mayor.
Since the Social Democrats have an absolute majority in the Frederikshavn city council, it is expected that the proposal for the lawyer investigation will be voted through on Wednesday.
