AARHUS: A little over a month ago, Aarhus' mayor Jacob Bundsgaard again agreed to receive a salary for being chairman of the Port of Aarhus. A salary he had otherwise declined since 2018, when he believed he was paid too much. However, he no longer holds that position after he lost the chairmanship in KL.
The salary for the chairmanship ended up at DKK 150,000 per year. But Jacob Bundsgaard originally wanted the city council to approve a fee of DKK 250,000. This is shown by access to documents that Lokalavisen Aarhus has obtained from the Port of Aarhus and the Municipality of Aarhus. In connection with the fee increase, Bundsgaard told the newspaper that he "has a principled position that you should be paid for the work you do".
Originally, an even lower level was planned for the chairmanship. Thus, in December, there was contact between the Mayor's Department (BA) and the Port of Aarhus, where the level of the fee was set at approximately DKK 59,500. However, a phone note from January reveals that a few weeks later BA would no longer agree to the port's proposal regarding the size of the fee. Instead, the 250,000 kroner was first put on the table, but the city council ended up not approving such a large increase.
