Esbjerg Port Director Dennis Jul Pedersen was a natural guest when the dockworkers' club celebrated its 80th anniversary on Saturday. If you ask the port director what the dockworkers' club means to the port, the answer comes immediately.

- The dockworkers' club means efficiency here at the port first and foremost. They are highly specialized casual workers who can do everything from operating the turbines to driving RoRo containers, says Dennis Jul Pedersen about the so-called roll on - roll off of containers.

And the dockworkers have even started to do more with the wind than moving the turbine parts.

- The dockworkers will assemble the turbines. The first ones are already underway on the site, and several are on a course. This shows the necessity of upgrading qualifications, explains Dennis Jul Pedersen about new tasks within the green transition that are being carried out by the dockers.

We celebrate collaboration

The celebration of the dockers' club is for both the dockers and the company managers and owners, because there are several people involved in the success story of the Port of Esbjerg as the world's largest port for shipping wind turbines.

- It is actually the collaboration that we are celebrating here today. Here, the person who drives the tractor at the dock can meet the owner of the company, says the port director and elaborates on the dockers' abilities:

- These are some specialists who do not have a permanent employment relationship.

Efficiency and speed are part of the package.

- Especially on RoRo and wind, they can do some of the fastest and most efficient work in all of Europe. This also becomes apparent when loading installation ships for wind, says Dennis Jul Pedersen.
