Things are happening at the Port of Hanstholm in 2022. At the beginning of the year, former Minister Kristian Jensen was officially elected as chairman of the port's board, only to resign from the position shortly afterwards. On Wednesday, his successor in the form of Michael Svane was appointed.

But now the port is about to start a recruitment process for a new director, as Nils Skeby informed the board on April 18 that he wanted to quit, Hanstholm Port said in a press release on Thursday.

- We are of course incredibly sad about this, as Nils has created a strong collaboration at the Port and developed and established the Hanstholm Energy Community, which will lead to Hanstholm Port becoming the first CO2-neutral fishing port in Europe and at the same time becoming the new business area for the port as a supplement to fishing, says Deputy Chairman of the Board Kris Yde in a press release.

It has only been almost two years since Nils Skeby started as director of the port. Nevertheless, the message from him is that he is quitting as he believes his work is complete.

- The task I was assigned to carry out for Thisted Municipality and Hanstholm Port within a 2-year period was to ensure strong cooperation between the port and the companies at the port, as well as develop the Hanstholm Energy Community, which will lead to Hanstholm Port becoming the first CO2-neutral fishing port in Europe, while at the same time creating the framework for Hanstholm Port to enter into an agreement with European Energy to establish a PtX plant that will produce hydrogen and methanol on the hinterland area that was established in connection with the recently completed port expansion, says Nils Skeby and continues:

- Since my task has now been completed and the framework for securing the future of Hanstholm Port is ready for execution, I think it is the right timing for me to quit as port director, he says.

Nils Skeby does not state where he will continue his career.
