UPDATED: The financially pressured Port of Frederikshavn has had a deficit of 340 million DKK in 2023. This is reported by both Nordjyske and TV2 Nord based on the port's accounts.

The reason for the large deficit of millions is, among other things, that the port's auditor, Deloitte, has written down the value of the port's assets by 330 million DKK.

Specifically, these are three projects that the port's auditor assesses to be worth less than previously assumed. The port's oil terminal has been written down by 276.7 million DKK, writes Nordjyske.

The value of the port's silos and the areas used by the scrapyard Modern American Recycling Services have also been written down by 2.5 million DKK and 50.8 million DKK, respectively. DKK. value.

In April, Frederikshavn Municipality took over full responsibility for Frederikshavn Port because the port lacked money to continue operating. This means that the port is now a municipal port and that the port's debt has ended up in the municipal treasury.

According to TV2 Nord, the total debt in Frederikshavn Port is around DKK 1.73 billion. Until the port was taken over by the municipality, it was a municipal self-governing port.

Frederikshavn Municipality has continuously lent the port more money to get its finances under control. In the autumn of 2023, the port's board resigned after there had been disagreement about the port's strategy.

A new board was subsequently appointed, with Karsten Dybvad, known as a former head of department in the Prime Minister's Office and CEO of the Confederation of Danish Industry, as chairman. After the new board worked its way into the affairs, the impression of the port's problems grew.
